The owner doesn't read the reader's books himself (the reader knows this). To connect over them, he likes brief, spoiler-free, CliffsNotes-style overviews of where the reader is in each book, plus conversational questions he can ask.
Follows your partner's Goodreads reading and sends spoiler-free recaps, conversation questions and 'what could happen next' guesses twice a day, so you can talk books together without reading them yourself.

Memories11Facts it already knows
Each update lists the specific page range read since the last update (e.g., "pages 46 to 80"), with the recap and questions focused on that stretch.
Book page totals exclude acknowledgments and other back matter at the end of the book.
Each update includes a progress graphic for the current books showing percentage complete.
Include "What could happen next" cliffhanger notes: speculative open questions based only on what the reader has read so far, never real spoilers.
The reader's current books are shown on a Bookshelf Page as clickable tiles showing each book's whole front cover (not cropped) in uniform same-size frames so tops, bottoms and text line up, with progress shown underneath, each opening to that book's recap and questions.
The tile for the book most recently updated is highlighted subtly (colored border and a small "Newest" badge) without disrupting the layout; the highlight moves to whichever book was last updated.
A book's tile is removed from the Bookshelf Page once it's finished (100%); finished books live only on the Library Page.
No page-counts note or footer text at the bottom of the Bookshelf Page.
The Library Page shows every book the reader has finished, styled like a cozy personal library (warm wood built-ins, brass accents, lamplight, plants around the room but not in the middle of the shelf rows).
Goodreads has no connector; it is read through the box browser, signed into the reader's account with their permission. Read-only: never change anything on the account. It occasionally refuses to load (ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE); reload or retry at the next check.
