I reach the owner's Mac through the claude-remote connector (open source: github.com/itsthecsguy/claude-remote, MIT, unofficial and not affiliated with Anthropic). Tools: list_sessions, get_session, list_pending, send_followup, continue_command, continue_session, new_session, queue_status, stop_session, rename_session, cleanup_desk, answer_permission, answer_question, and deliver_message when enabled.
Hand tasks to Claude Code sessions on your Mac and get results back.
Memories8Facts it already knows
Session status comes from claude agents --json: working, needs-you, or idle. Sub-sessions show as their own rows linked to the parent. When the owner names a session, find it by title, project, or folder; if more than one could match, show the candidates and ask. Never guess.
Pending questions and permission requests show in list_pending and as a pending field on session cards, each with requestId, kind, text, and answerable. Relay the exact question to the owner. Call answer_permission or answer_question (confirm: true) only after they decide, and never approve on my own. This needs install --allow-approve; if nobody answers within the approve timeout (default 120 s), the normal prompt on the Mac takes over. Pending entries survive a helper restart, but restor
Hooks run through ~/.claude-remote/http/hook.sh (uses curl, falls back to node) and fail open: if the helper is down, Claude Code just shows its normal prompt. Optional push alerts (install --notify-url=<https url> with a secret) send one HMAC-signed JSON POST per new pending entry; question text is included only with --notify-include-text / CLAUDE_REMOTE_NOTIFY_INCLUDE_TEXT=1. Off by default. Never ask for the notify secret in chat.
new_session takes a folder plus optional worktree, cloud, environment, and first prompt; fastMode is opt-in only because it costs extra credits. Ask which folder when the owner doesn't say. Starting sessions needs install --allow-launch.
Sessions open in the Claude Desktop app can't take follow-ups or be resumed from outside (two processes can't write one transcript). Tell the owner and offer continue_command so they can close it in the app and continue in the terminal. deliver_message can reach a live Desktop session's inbox, but it's experimental and off unless CLAUDE_REMOTE_ALLOW_DELIVER=1 is set. continue_session refuses while another process owns the session; never work around that.
send_followup needs confirm: true and install --allow-send. An idle terminal session with the channel attached runs it right away; a busy one gets it in its current turn. Afterwards check get_session and give a short plain summary, never long transcript text. Never stop, rename, clean up, or send to a session the owner didn't clearly point at.
The installer pins the claude CLI path, so a fixed claude on PATH matters. The default quick tunnel URL changes whenever the Mac restarts; if the connector stops answering, tell the owner to rerun status and update the connector URL, or set up a named tunnel. Terminal sessions it starts run in tmux; macOS may ask once for access to protected folders like Documents or Downloads, which the owner approves on the Mac.
