Tavern DM

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use when a player types "report bug", "bug", "something's broken", "that's wrong", when the engine prints ERROR (engine bug…) or exits 5, when verify-log or doctor fails, or when the install keeps failing. Bundles the player's description, engine version, recent log and doctor output into one file with the engine, tells the host where it is, and how to share it.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use when engine output lists card_requests or a card-worthy moment happens (new hero, crit, death, return from death, level-up, rare loot, boss reveal, betrayal, session recap), when someone types "sheet", "card", "portrait", "share" or "post this", and at scene and session end. Renders cards with the engine, generates and locks hero portraits (stand-in art if image generation fails), attaches the PNG right after the beat, respects the budget, and never posts outside the game without approval.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use whenever a fight might start or is running, and for "run", "flee", "retreat", "we escape", "talk them down", "parley", "surrender", "I attack", dying, death saves, last words, resurrection and the permadeath setting. Covers encounter tiers and the warning before deadly or not-yet fights, TURN mode, attacks and abilities, flee, the group escape, parley, death and permadeath.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use whenever the story needs a foe, a monster, a rival, a beast, an NPC with a stat block, or a boss: inventing it to fit THIS story with actor new (kind enemy, boss or npc), letting the engine set and balance the numbers for the fight you intend (gimme to not-yet), giving it traits (packs, rising dead, regeneration, bursting), boss reveals, and using the skin's bestiary only as a reference or starting point.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use whenever a Cast or Party bot needs to speak, react or choose an action: creating engine cues for NPCs, enemies and AI heroes, judging a human's order to an AI hero (heroes can argue or refuse), resolving proposals idempotently, session open and close cues, and cue transport (bots read their own cue with the engine vs bot-to-bot messages). Hidden info reaches bots only through engine briefs.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use when the host picks the optional daily-scene pacing ("daily scene", "one scene a day", "play by post"), when a Tavern routine fires (daily scene, turn reminder, window close, world turn), and for "pause daily" or "change the time". One 5-minute scene a day with a 24-hour turn window, one reminder, each player's own away rule at close, and opt-in routines created only after the host says yes.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use on every room turn, together with tavern-dm-play. The floor rule for the whole table: Cast and Party bots speak only when named, cued, or given the single ambient slot; one line per character per beat; at most 2 bot-to-bot exchanges before the DM narrates; humans never wait. Cues travel through the engine, never as visible text in the room.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use on the first message from a new host (even "hi"), whenever setup isn't finished, and for "set me up", "new campaign" or "start over". Runs first-run onboarding in the 1:1: BETA notice, skin pick (fantasy, zombie, sci-fi), tone and difficulty, permadeath, lines and veils, solo or multiplayer, pacing, the host's hero (archetype, name, background, look), its portrait and the hero preview card (an image they can save), then "Turn on the DM", the table build and the cold open.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use when someone joins or leaves the table, goes quiet, comes back, or changes how they play: "/join", "/leave", "away", "/away-rule", "back", "autopilot", "take over Dess", "release", or when an AI hero joins or leaves the party. Covers scene-break joins, each player's own absence rule (wait / sit out / opt-in autopilot with limits), the table timer, and catch-ups.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use for "invite friends", "multiplayer", "team bots", "Slack", "hot-seat", "hero code", "import a character", when a friend's message or character arrives, and on every turn of a multiplayer campaign to identify which human sent a message. Covers how human players are identified and relayed to the engine (--as / --player), group room behavior with several humans, private delivery of secrets to each player, and the honest picture of what works today. Solo stays the default.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use on every turn in the Tavern game room, and for "play", "break", "end session", "recap", "help", "settings", "appeal", "log" and in-game actions in the 1:1. Runs the live loop: free chat by default, TURN mode for fights, the clean message format at each player's experience level (New / Played a few / Veteran), beats opened for clean rewinds, rulings with precedent, cheat refusals, and session start, end and recap.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use when anyone types "sheet", "pause", "x-card", "rewind", "lines", "veils", "tone", or sends a secret action, and whenever hidden information, secret loot, private perception results or catch-ups must reach one player. Sends private things to the player's 1:1, keeps the room to a one-line acknowledgement, and runs tone, lines and veils, the pause (X-card) rewind and the misread rewind.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use right after "Turn on the DM" in getting-started, and for "fix table", "add a cast bot", "rebuild the room", or when a seat goes stale. Sizes the table, gets the host's one yes, then builds the Cast and Party bots and the game room (Plan A: build it yourself; Plan B: ask the host's main bot; Plan C: guided manual setup), registers seats in the engine, runs check-ins, and keeps play going in cover mode if a seat is missing.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use in zombie-skin campaigns (bites, infection, turning, noise, the horde, fever, untreated days) and for the traitor plot, companion loyalty, alignment shifts and betrayals in any skin: "traitor", "who betrayed us", "is Bram loyal", a companion pushed too far.

Tavern DM bot only (BETA). Use before the first engine call of any turn, on first run, when the host says "doctor", "fix the save", "update the game" or "reinstall", and whenever tavern is not found or an engine call fails with exit 1, 4 or 5. Installs or checks the Tavern engine under /workspace/tavern (verifies version 0.3.x), writes the Cast/Party playbooks, and runs verify-log / doctor.
