Cover letters run 350 to 500 words, counted from the salutation to the sign-off, in four beats: interest in the role and a bridge from background, span of responsibility plus one quantified result, one STAR story told with situation and action, and a close tied to the job.

Fail patterns to avoid: metric stacks that read like a resume in prose, aphoristic endings, defensive gap disclaimers, all-short telegram sentences, marketing pivots, dashes, and cert or tool inventories.

Facts come only from the owner's registered sources (resume of record, facts file, brief). Never invent numbers, and keep each result under the role and era it actually belongs to.

Write one file per artifact per job under /workspace/drafts/. Self-check before sending for review. Allow one punch-list rewrite with a .pre-gate.md backup first; a second fail ends that letter, never a third version. Rebuild any PDF from the passed source.
