Best Grok Bots for Phone Calls and SMS
Grok Bot has no phone number of its own. Bots that make or answer calls, or send texts, do it through a third-party service you connect: a voice-calling service such as ClawCall, a telephony account such as Twilio, Telnyx, Bland or Quo, or, for iMessage, a Mac you leave signed in. This shortlist covers the templates that do that job today, and it flags the ones that can spend money or contact other people.
If you want the setup route rather than the shortlist, read Give a Grok Bot a phone number.
How we picked
- We read each template's skills, routines and connected plugins in our directory. We did not import or run any of them.
- Each one has a distinct phone or SMS job. We left out near-copies and generic assistants.
- Every bot that dials out or texts out says so below, with the account it needs. Calls and texts to other people are the risky part, so assume you need their consent in the places where the law requires it, and keep approval on.
- Bots updated most recently were preferred where two did the same job. Template dates run from late August to late October 2026.
Read this before you connect anything
- Outbound consent. Automated or AI-voiced calls and marketing texts to US numbers generally need the recipient's prior consent. The FCC's February 2024 declaratory ruling (FCC 24-17) says AI-generated voices count as "artificial" voices under the TCPA (FCC 24-17). This is not legal advice. Check your local rules.
- Cost. Every route has a meter outside Grok Bot: a call service subscription, per-minute and per-message carrier fees, and your Grok Bot usage. See the playbook for how to cap it.
- Third-party accounts. Each bot below needs at least one account outside Grok Bot, listed in the table.
- Approval. Prefer bots that confirm before they dial, text, pay or accept a deal.
Pick by situation
- You hate waiting on hold or chasing support: Phoneline Manager.
- You want a lower bill and are comfortable with a bot negotiating within limits you set: Bill Negotiator.
- You already have a Bland account and want calls on request: dial bot.
- You want your own voice agent on a Twilio number: Voice Calls.
- You run a small shop and want orders taken by phone: Shopfront Receptionist.
- You need business text messaging in the US: Telnyx, then read the 10DLC section of the playbook.
- You want your bot to read and send iMessages: iMessage bot, and only if you own a Mac you can leave on.
- You are drowning in spam calls: Call List Remover.
- You run sales on Quo (OpenPhone): Lead Catcher.
- You are a tradesperson chasing quotes by text: Quote Chase Desk.
The shortlist
The table compares the ten bots. The notes after it describe what we read in each template, not a test run.

Why it is on the list
The most complete ClawCall template we found. It places single errand calls (confirm a booking, check stock, chase a ticket), compares quotes across several businesses, and can answer your reserved line. A "get me a person" skill hands calls to you when an identity check, one-time code, payment or decision comes up. Needs a ClawCall account; the answering line needs a reserved number, which is a paid tier. It calls real businesses on your behalf, so give it a clear goal each time. It does not call you back unprompted beyond follow-up reminders.

Why it is on the list
Scans Gmail for recurring bills, then phones the provider through ClawCall to ask for a retention deal. You set limits first, and a weekday check verifies the new price on later bills. Best for internet, phone and insurance bills where retention offers are common. Needs Gmail and a ClawCall account. Risk: it can agree to a deal on your behalf inside your limits, so set tight limits, keep it read-only on your inbox where you can, and verify any new contract in writing.

dial bot Places outbound Bland AI phone calls when you ask, then reports what happened. On first use it asks for a Bland API key and voice.

Why it is on the list
A single-skill bot: you ask for a call, it places it through Bland AI and reports the outcome. On first run it asks for your Bland API key and a voice. Suits someone who already pays for Bland and wants a thin wrapper. It has no routines, no answering line and no approval gate beyond your request. The template was last updated in late August, so check that Bland's MCP and API still match. Risk: Bland usage is billed to your account per call.

Why it is on the list
A self-hosted voice agent built on Twilio and ElevenLabs. It locks a script and tone before each dial, remembers callers by caller ID, and syncs transcripts into notes after calls, with a monthly reminder to check payment methods. The most flexible route and the most work. You manage two billing accounts and a webhook yourself. Suits builders who want control over voice and memory. Risk: it handles both inbound and outbound calls and recorded transcripts, so you carry the consent and disclosure duties.

Why it is on the list
Aimed at a shop, cafe or takeaway whose existing VoIP number should be answered by a Grok voice agent. It takes orders, catering requests and complaints, reads details back to the caller, and passes them on to the owner without taking payment. Its setup skill walks through pointing a SIP or VoIP number at an xAI voice agent, which matches xAI's published SIP documentation. Expect real configuration work on the carrier side. It covers incoming calls only.

Telnyx Telnyx
by Travis
Telnyx specialist for Grok Bot — SMS, numbers, 10DLC with website audit before TCR submit, webhooks, and onboarding.
- Memories5
- Skills8
- Routines1
Why it is on the list
A Telnyx specialist rather than a task bot. Skills cover signing up, buying numbers, messaging profiles, first outbound texts, inbound webhooks and troubleshooting. Its standout piece is 10DLC: it audits your website for opt-in and compliance pages before it lets you submit a brand or campaign. Use it if you need US business SMS. You need a Telnyx account and billing. It helps you register and send, but consent for each recipient remains your job.

iMessage bot iMessage bot
by Evan Bacon
Reads and sends iMessages on a connected Mac: chat.db for history, Beeper imessage-cli for send, reply, react, and edit.
- Memories6
- Skills2
- Routines0
Why it is on the list
Reads and searches iMessage history on a Mac, and sends, replies, reacts or edits through Beeper's iMessage command-line tool. Reading needs Full Disk Access on the Mac; sending needs the Beeper tool. Suits someone who lives in iMessage and wants summaries and drafted replies. Requires a Mac that stays on and connected. It sends from your own Apple ID, so keep sends behind approval and do not point it at group chats you have not reviewed.

Call List Remover Gets your cell number off telemarketing and robocall lists: Do Not Call registration, data broker opt-outs, and marketing list removals, rechecked over time.
- Memories1
- Skills1
- Routines0
Why it is on the list
A defensive pick: it works through the National Do Not Call registry, data-broker opt-outs and marketing-list removals for your cell number, and rechecks over time. Fits anyone whose number is already everywhere. It lists no plugins, so expect it to guide forms rather than call anyone. It cannot stop scam callers who ignore the registry. Opt-out requests submit your phone number to third parties, so read what it is about to file.

Why it is on the list
Reads your Quo (formerly OpenPhone) conversations on weekdays and delivers a short list of prospects who still need a human reply, with links back to Quo. Delivery is by Slack or email, and setup lets you choose preview or auto-send for the digest. Needs Quo plus Slack or email. It is the lowest-risk way to use a Grok Bot with a real business line: the template says it will not text customers unless you ask. It does not draft or send replies by default.

Why it is on the list
Tracks open quotes for a trades business, drafts paced follow-ups, and stops the sequence when the customer replies. Two skills are what earn its place here: one checks SMS consent and opt-out words (such as STOP) before any text, and another requires owner approval before any send. Needs Gmail, Drive and Calendar. It drafts for approval; check how a send actually leaves your account before relying on it. It is the best model of consent-aware messaging in this set.
